OCENS has developed OneMail with the aim of providing a solution for individuals who rely on their Gmail accounts to stay connected with their social circles, colleagues, and beyond. For those of us who venture into remote areas, dependent on satellite phones for connectivity during designated periods of the year, the conventional method of accessing Gmail becomes impractical due to its sluggish nature and high cost, leaving us virtually disconnected from the rest of the world.
OneMail offers a distinctive approach to managing Gmail under challenging circumstances, such as slow or expensive connections. By utilizing OneMail, users can automatically connect through their satellite link to retrieve essential email details like sender, subject, and size. The application efficiently disconnects from the satellite service after providing this summary information, preventing unnecessary airtime consumption. Users can then review the list of pending emails offline, highlighting and marking important messages before seamlessly fetching the complete content upon reconnecting.
Additionally, OneMail supports attachments, enabling users to send and receive small files or images. Emails managed through OneMail are marked as read on the original account, ensuring no message is overlooked even while offline. The application is compatible with various satellite communication devices such as Iridium GO!, Iridium GO! Exec, Iridium Certus, Inmarsat and Globalstar handheld phones, Globalstar Sat-Fi, and Sidekick satellite Wi-Fi routers.
